Hey everyone! You should know that a combination of excitement, lack of blogging experience and stage-fright have had me stuck on this first paragraph for days! In the end I decided, for a first post, to give you a bit of background on me. Things like who I am, where I come from and where I'm headed. You know, start simple!
I'm Bulgarian, as you can probably guess from the name. Grew up perfectly normal, had an NES then skipped all consoles until the PS4 for many reasons, mostly monetary. Played a ton of PC games growing up, though. Did some programming when I was (too) young but it didn't grab me at the time. If I had to say when I knew I would make games for a living it was when I first encountered Diablo 2 and Hexen. Hexen in particular, something about it made my imagination go wild.
A little later on I played entirely too much Half-Life, Star Craft and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. The last two in particular changed my life - they were my first experiences actually building my own games, granted it was just maps and simple stories, but it was like drugs for me.
From there I moved to Warcraft 3 for my game making kicks and it was good. I learned a lot about game engines from Warcraft 3. The included editor is to this day the greatest modding/game making tool I have ever used. Unity is nice and all but Warcraft 3's editor was focused on one thing and it did it so well.
Unfortunately this post has ballooned significantly so I'm going to make this a multi-parter. Next part will be out soon!
